Based in Houston, Pontem Energy invests in upstream and midstream asset-based strategies to achieve for our partners (at both the asset and investment levels) principal preservation while reaping the benefits of capital appreciation in operated and non-operated contexts. We favor assets and business plans that feature acquisitions, development and scale-up potential. We leverage our extensive relationships around the world to identify value enhancing capital investment projects in the US. We have a track record of working collaboratively with partners to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes and returns.

Principal Investments
Pontem provides attractive risk-adjusted alpha through arbitrage in seller organizational focus, commodity price realization, cost rationalization and asset scale. Our team is equipped to provide both capital and operations management, delivering capital efficiency to our limited partners. We frequently find attractive opportunities in dislocated markets and where sellers (i) are managing for fund life timing, (ii) need a partner to help in generational succession plans, (iii) have assets that are non-core to their strategy or (iv) have specific liquidity needs.
Outliers notwithstanding, we have originated many sub-$100mm acquisition and development opportunities to capitalize on compelling valuations, with greater potential for proprietary sourced deals than larger transactions. We believe after portfolio assets will benefit from improved exit prospects after having established scale and regional concentration. We opportunistically use financial leverage and commodity hedging to enhance returns and protect partner principal.
We invest in predominantly conventional onshore, operated working interests of domestic upstream and midstream assets.

Regulatory Operator
Regulated entity that operates upstream oil and gas assets. This entity is staffed with a deep bench of engineering, land, regulatory and finance resources along with Pontem's advisor network. We also retain local geological and geophysical specialists as needs dictate.
