Paul Griffith

Mr. Griffith brings to Pontem over 34 years of advanced reservoir engineering and subsurface characterization at Saudi Aramco, Chevron, Hess and Apache (1988-2017), culminating in role as VP of Engineering and Operations over Apache’s Egypt assets.  Perpetually focused on operational improvements, he identified 3-25% in technically-driven (not budget slashing) cost savings and improvements on every one of his assignments between 1986 and 2019.  Mr. Griffith is a proven project generator, having implemented a dozen new waterflood projects, two CO2 sequestration projects, proposed over 300 workovers and over 100 new wells.

While at Apache, he built and executed a $1 billion budget to bring Apache into its East Texas Eagle Ford Core Area via acquisitions, drilling and completions.  Mr. Griffith had broad exposure to reservoir characteristics through working on Apache’s Gulf of Mexico shelf, Midcon, Permian, UK North Sea, Western Sedimentary Basin, NWS Australia, Cote d’Ivoire, Bohai Bay, Alaska and Egypt assets.  He spent three years at Chevron Oilfield Research conducting reservoir simulation studies and product line support.  Mr. Griffith also conducted complex reservoir modeling and operations oversight for 15 major global oil and gas projects.

Mr. Griffith earned a BS with Honors from New Mexico Tech, a Masters of Engineering, Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and Business certificates from Thunderbird School of Global Management and Southern Methodist University Cox School of Business.  Based in Houston, he is married with two children.
